Springtime is here, days are longer, flowers are blooming, but inside your house you still feel the winter blues. It's that time of the year again when the cleaning must get done, but maybe you don’t have enough time for a deep clean? Or maybe you just want to get it done as fast as possible? I have had great success with these quick methods.
1. De-clutter
This may seem like a No-Brainer, but it makes a huge difference! Feeling like a bit of a hoarder? Get rid of or donate unused/unnecessary items. It clears lots of space and makes one single step feel like a lot more.
Quick Tip: Start small, clear one room at time!
2. The Dreaded Large Appliances
Our appliances do the heavy lifting all year round, so they deserve a nice clean once or twice a year. Degreasing the oven and vent hood and taking a few minutes to organize the fridge can make these appliances look almost new again. Don’t forget to sweep under everything!
Quick Tip: Homemade degreaser: 1tbsp. baking soda, 1/2 tbsp. dish soap, 1/2 tbsp. water.
3. Dust, Dust, Dust!
A vacuum will work best against dust on upholstery, draperies and carpeting. With the proper attachments, you can use it on walls, silk plants, and lampshades. We all forget the fan blades and baseboards when cleaning, but this is the time to get it done. A quick wipe down with a microfiber cloth gets the job done!
Quick Tip: Start from top to bottom.
4. The Mysterious Carpet Stains and Odors...
Carpets soak up so many different odors and stains that they need a deep clean!
Carpet powder helps to eliminate the smells. For stains, use equal parts white vinegar and baking soda. Spray area liberally, let soak for 10 minutes, blot with a dry towel until the stain is removed.
Quick Tip: If you don’t have carpet powder handy baking soda also does the trick.
5. Your beloved Pets
It has probably been a while since you have deep cleaned your doggie’s bed or have gone through their toys. Cleaning these areas gets rid of stray smells, dirt, and germs that come inside the house with your pets. Just wash the doggie bed in hot water, wash and sanitize the toys.
Quick Tip: Fill a large bucket with one part warm water and one part distilled white vinegar to soak toys and accessories at once.
Pro Tip: Grab yourself an automatic vacuum or sweeper to seem like you clean all the time without the hassle of it~
